From Glacier Park International Airport (FCA)
Glacier Park International Airport in Kalispell is the closest major airport to Summit Mountain Lodge, approximately 90 miles (145 km) west.
- Exit the airport and head north on Highway 2
- Continue straight on Highway 2 for approximately 66 miles
- Summit Mountain Lodge will be on your right at mile marker 197

From Great Falls International Airport (GTF)
Great Falls International Airport is approximately 150 miles (240 km) east of Summit Mountain Lodge.
- From the airport, take I-15 North toward Shelby
- Exit onto Highway 89 North toward Browning
- In Browning, turn left onto Highway 2 West
- Continue on Highway 2 for approximately 35 miles
- Summit Mountain Lodge will be on your left at mile marker 197

From Whitefish, MT
- From Whitefish, take Highway 93 South for 2.2 miles
- Turn left onto Highway 40
- Continue as Highway 40 merges into Highway 2
- Follow Highway 2 East for approximately 50 miles
- Summit Mountain Lodge will be on your right at mile marker 197

From East Glacier Village
- From East Glacier Village, head west on Highway 2
- Continue for approximately 10 miles
- Summit Mountain Lodge will be on your left at mile marker 197

Via Amtrak
The Empire Builder Amtrak line runs through East Glacier Park (summer) and Essex/Izaak Walton Inn (winter). Both stations are a short drive from Summit Mountain Lodge.
- East Glacier Park Station (seasonal, typically late May to October): 10 miles from the lodge
- Essex/Izaak Walton Inn Station (winter service): 20 miles from the lodge

Transportation Services
While having your own vehicle offers the most flexibility for exploring Glacier National Park, we can recommend transportation options:
- Airport Shuttles: Several companies offer shuttle service from Glacier Park International Airport with advance reservations
- Rental Cars: Available at both Kalispell and Great Falls airports
- Local Taxi Services: Limited availability in East Glacier Village
When You Arrive
- Check-in time is 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM
- For late arrivals, please call ahead so we can make special arrangements
- Our main lodge is clearly marked with signage
- During summer months, our restaurant is open from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM (closed Mondays)
Travel Tips
- Fuel Up: The nearest gas stations are in East Glacier Village (10 miles east) and at the Snow Slip Bar & Grill (6 miles west)
- Cell Service: Cell coverage can be limited in mountainous areas around the lodge
- Navigation: While GPS is generally reliable, we recommend downloading offline maps as backup
- Wildlife Awareness: Drive cautiously, especially at dawn and dusk when animals are most active
- Park Entrance Fees: Have National Park entrance fees ready if planning to visit Glacier National Park
